STRIA
Filippo Gambetta is by now a reality, young and rich of technique and talent, in the Italian and European button accordion scene. Imagination isn't the most appropriate word to express the artistic skill of Filippo Gambetta, whose best and suitable description could be geniality. Stria is the best debut album of the last years.
ROBERTO G.SACCHI – FOLK BULLETTIN (Italia)
Stria is more than a first recording and the leader's ideas, not only the musical ones, suggest a more than reassuring maturity.... composed and arranged by Gambetta himself, Stria provides pleasant images.
PIERCARLO POGGIO – BLOW UP (ITALY)
Filippo Gambetta has been building a solid and deserved reputation as a melodeon virtuoso. Overall Stria is an in-depht and convincing journey in the countless musical narratives offered by the interplay between melodeon and different ccmbinaticns of bowed and plucked strings.
ALESSIO SURIAN - SONGLINES (UK)
The compositions and performances on Stria are nuanced and complex, succesfully integrating unlikely influences, continually revealing new pleasures. Hints of dissonante coexist with sweet melodies, or sometimes shoulder them aside for a time before ultimately relinquishing control. The segues are so artfully executed that stylistic frontiers become blurry.
JIM FOLEY – ROOTSWORLD BULLETTIN (USA)
Stria is the name of the witch, in the ancient ĺgurian dialect: Filippo must surely be elf-like to skillfully conduct us on a journey through old French stuff, Balkan suggestions, rearranged mazurkas, bright Scottishes and mandolin orchestra nostalgia.
GUIDO FESTINESE – WORLD MUSIC (ITALY)
His music is richly textured and highly original, full of surprises, well played and well arranged. What strikes me most about Filippo is the naturaleness of his playing, his fluid phrasing but I think his best quality is the way he puts his considerable technique at the service of the emotion he wants to express, which is the sign of a great musician.
The new millennium has opened in the best possible way for the melodeon.
STRIA BOOKLET - RICCARDO TESI
The Italian folk music scene seems to have found an international stature musician in the young Genoese button accordion player Filippo Gambetta.
ANTONIO VIVALDI – LA REPUBBLICA / MUSICA! ( ITALY )
